Sewing for yourself is hard, no matter what’s going on in your life, but I’d argue that having a baby puts you in a pretty unique situation. Your body changes so quickly, you’re tired, you might be bit emotional, and your time is at a premium, because you’re keeping a new human alive- and maybe you’re already keeping another human alive…or two, or three.
My Easy T pattern still fit me fine through the shoulders, but I needed more room on the belly area- so I flared the side seam. I also made my Easy T from a knit (a fabulous Liverpool from LA Finch Fabrics), so it’s a bit more comfortable on my body, and it’s easier to pull up in order to nurse!
I do love to wear a nursing tank around the house (and in public) but the underwire nursing bra with a molded cup gives me a nice silhouette under the Easy T. I’m self-conscious of my tummy, and the high-wasited leggings give me the belly coverage- so TA DA, nice silhouette, no tummy exposure, and baby gets fed!
This outfit isn’t the most tailored, refined ensemble that I’ve ever worn, but I feel put-together and it lets me move and feed the baby whether at home or in public.
What have you worn after having a baby? I want to know!
