SewHere.com is starting the search for a tester team. This team will be an integral part of the testing and marketing of SewHere’s patterns, drafting guides, and online classes.
This is a paid position. Right now, compensation is modest, but hopefully it will increase as pattern sales take off!
Compensation: $75 per “Pattern Project” (plus access to the free pattern)
Who We’re Looking For:
A diverse group of people to test our patterns and drafting guides.
What does diverse mean? It means we’re looking for people over 18 years of age who are:
-Any gender or gender-identity: Our patterns can fit any “body” who wants to wear them, and we look forward to benefitting our transgender and non-binary sewing friends with patterns that can be tailored to their unique needs!
-Any race or ethnicity: We believe representation matters, especially in the sewing world!
-A range of body proportions: You don’t have to fit a “type” or “size” to model our patterns- in fact, we will choose testers based on representing different body proportions.
-Any age (over 18): Age is just a number, and we don’t want to limit who models and represents our patterns.
“Pattern Project” Details:
–Test and give feedback about Drafting Guides; how they fit, instructions, etc. to Mallory and Zede via email. You’ll get about 1-2 weeks to do this.
–Write one blog post (500 words) for SewHere about the pattern and how it fits into your life/on your body. Must take 2-3 high quality photos of the construction process and 3-4 high quality photos modeling the garment.
–Promote your finished garment and your SewHere blog post on your public social profiles.
–Promote the posts of your Tester Team Members on your public social profiles.
-We will probably choose a pool of testers and then offer up projects to the group. Then people can choose which ones they want to test, based on their needs and style.
-You must be able to speak and write frankly about your body measurements and clothing preferences. You will make decisions about how our clothing fits you, and we need testers who feel comfortable parsing out issues that might involve gender, body image, health, etc.
-You must be an intermediate-advanced stitcher with access to sewing equipment in good working order.
-You must have access to fabric and be willing to purchase appropriate materials for the pattern.
-You must have a public social media presence on Instagram and Facebook.
-The ability to be discreet about pattern edits and also about any communications between you and SewHere or you and other testers.
-You must be committed to the diverse and inclusive community that SewHere strives to create. We are LGBTQ+ affirming and do not tolerate white supremacy or bigotry in any form.
I can’t wait to hear from you!
